About my art...*
I am an English artist based in rural south-west France, where my recent work has been shaped by the rich diversity of local wildlife. Having exhibited in both the UK and France, my practice continues to evolve through a close observation of the natural world around me. The quiet rhythms of the countryside provide both subject and inspiration, offering an ever-changing source of ideas rooted in place and season.

This curiosity is not just reserved for wildlife though; observing people (especially at work) is also a favourite pastime. An extended stay on the East African island of Zanzibar in 2017 introduced me to a colourful alternative existence. I favour painting acrylics on canvas, characteristically in solid blocks of colour, the subject often portrayed in profile. Occasionally I’ll inject a bit of humour- it just depends what mood I’m in. I’ve also been dabbling in collage, experimenting with gouache paint and sewing thread on cardboard. The results can, by happy accident, resembling the indigenous art I first encountered whilst backpacking in Australia.
About me...*
After studying illustration at Newcastle Polytechnic (Northumbria University), My creative journey began in London during the 1990s, working as a book illustrator in a fast-paced environment that demanded both discipline and speed. Decades later, and following a move abroad, I now approach my work more deliberately, guided by curiosity rather than deadlines. Long walks through the surrounding landscape often spark new ideas, with a pocket camera always at hand to capture moments that later find their way into my compositions.

A room in a renovated farmhouse currently functions as my studio space, With the natural world under threat I intend to leave, in my own small way, a visual legacy to prove that such subjects did once exist. The clock is ticking so I’d better push on…
Exhibitions and viewing...*
I am always asked 'where can I see your work'. This site provides that opportunity acting as both a gallery for you to view and enjoy my work and a place to purchase something if it takes your fancy. Following last years successful exhibition at the Gallerie Du Moulin in Monestie, where I shared gallery space with a fellow local artist Jo Pendered, which led to the sale of 13 pieces. We are hosting another co-curated event at the same venue. So, I f you can please come along and view at you leisure.
